Another great distribution tool for RSS feeds and podcasts is Feedburner (www.feedburner.com.) I think they're owned by Google, but don't quote me on that.

I use it for our CVB blog, and it has some great tools including email subscriptions.

Hello, my co has several travel industry related clients from lodging to airplanes, and I was wondering what are some beneficial uses of RSS for the travel industry or maybe unique uses? I would like to offer some ideas to our existing clients.

Any creative or useful ideas for rss?

Thanks, will

Hi Will,

Chrissy's example is a great one. An RSS feed is perfect for "syndicating" a blog. It allows you to communicate with your clients/visitors on a regular basis, with very little effort on their part. The key is to make sure your posts contain interesting and/or entertaining information so they'll be inclined to keep reading. Many people subscribe to blogs, only to read for a while and get bored. So keep the information useful.

Another great use of RSS feeds for people in our industry is to provide valuable information that's always changing, such as packages/specials and events. Everybody's looking for information on ways to save money.

If you offer to deliver money saving opportunities directly to the visitors' computer, and even throw in some information on things to see and do in the area, you're helping them plan a trip. They're going to keep reading, and maybe even spread the word!
