The New York Times reports today that taxes on travel purchases, such as hotels and rental cars, are increasing. Meanwhile, a smaller proportion of the proceeds are being spent on tourism marketing. Some cities and counties in Ohio have among the highest bed taxes in the nation.

Question:
Are you concerned that travel taxes are being unfairly levied on hotels and rental cars?

Choices:
No. The travel taxes in my area are fair and are distributed fairly.
Somewhat. Travel taxes in my area are higher than I would like, but I don't think it affects business much.
Yes. Travel taxes in my area inhibit business are are used mostly for projects other than tourism promotion.

We live in a capitalist society. Money is merely a product to indicate how much people have given to society over what they have taken.
We all know this is not true because there are plenty of cases where we feel a rich person doesn't deserve to be rich. This doesn't matter though, the system is supposed to reflect the amount of work put in by somebody.
Therefore to complain that making luxury items more expensive penalises the poor makes little sense.
